Privacy promisesTrust

What we’ll never dowith your data.

Recovery is private. These are the promises HEAL makes about your information — each one followed by how it actually works, in plain words.

Seven promisesAnd how they work

  1. Encryption

Staff can’t read your workbook or check-in notes.

    How it actually works

Every workbook answer and check-in note is sealed with AES-256-GCM, with a fresh random IV for each record, before it’s stored. The staff console has no screen, search or export that opens them, and they’re kept out of logs, analytics, background jobs and notifications.

To be precise: the key lives on HEAL’s servers, not only on your device, so this isn’t end-to-end encryption. It’s a promise enforced by code and access rules.

  2. Sharing

You decide who sees a page, and for how long.

    How it actually works

Sharing is always deliberate: you pick the exact prompts, name the person and confirm. The link carries a random token, and HEAL stores only a hash of it. Links expire after 1 to 14 days (7 by default), and you can revoke one at any moment — it stops working straight away.

  3. Data sales

We never sell your data. No ads.

    How it actually works

Not to advertisers, not to treatment centers, not “anonymized” and not in aggregate. HEAL doesn’t run ads and never targets anyone because they’re struggling. Future business partners will never get access to private writing as part of any deal.

Treatment centers can’t buy a listing, a referral or a look at member data. Not now, not as a future partner.

    Our vetting standard
  4. Meetings

No attendee lists. Meetings are never recorded.

    How it actually works

Rooms are audio-only and HEAL doesn’t record them. The public schedule shows no RSVP or attendance numbers, and there’s no list or export of who came. During a meeting, people in the room — including the host — see only pseudonyms and emoji avatars.

  5. Identity

A pseudonym is all anyone sees.

    How it actually works

Your display name can be anything from 2 to 32 characters, and HEAL refuses names that look like an email address or phone number. Avatars are an emoji on a colour, never a photo. Whether you’re in recovery, a family member or an ally is never shown publicly.

  6. Your rights

Export, delete or correct — within 30 days.

    How it actually works

Ask from your profile in the app, or email support@teleheal.com. Each request is logged with a 30-day due date and handled by a person on the team, who replies by email. You can have one open request of each kind at a time.

  7. Vetting

Nobody can pay for a place on our list.

    How it actually works

No paid placements, no referral fees, no per-admission deals. A provider is approved only after every published check is met and at least two reviewers without a conflict vote yes — one of them independent. Relevant ownership and financial relationships are disclosed on the listing.

Your data, simply

Not all data is equal,so we don’t treat it that way.

HEAL sorts what it holds by how sensitive it is. The more personal it is, the fewer people and systems can ever touch it.

Public

What anyone can see

This website, the meeting schedule, approved provider listings.

Who can see it: Everyone. Reviewed before it’s published.

Account

What runs your account

Your email, display name, avatar, time zone, preferences and the consents you gave.

Who can see it: You, and the staff who run accounts and support.

Community

What you do with others

RSVPs, help-board requests and offers, and reports you file.

Who can see it: You, the people you choose to connect with, and moderators when reviewing a post or report.

Most sensitive

What you write for yourself

Workbook answers and check-in notes. Your daily mood is private to you, too.

Who can see it: Only you — and the person you share a page with, until the link expires. Writing is encrypted; staff see only totals.

Safety records

What keeps the community safe

Moderation decisions, removals from meetings and role changes.

Who can see it: A small group of staff, with every action logged.

This website also uses analytics, subject to your cookie choices. Push notifications never include workbook prompts or meeting participation.

What we’re still reviewing

Honest aboutwhat isn’t finished.

Our policies are drafts, pending legal review

The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use are written in plain language and marked as drafts until qualified counsel has reviewed them.

We don’t claim HIPAA compliance

HEAL is a peer community, not a healthcare provider. Which health-privacy laws apply to a service like ours depends on the details, and that calls for a proper legal assessment — not a badge on a web page.
