Long Term Rehabs
How Long-term Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers Benefit Clients
Substance Abuse Needs More Than A Quick Fix
When people think about getting help for a substance abuse issue, often there is a pressure to “get help, deal with the problem, and get it over with.” Unfortunately, addiction treatment doesn’t work this way. It’s not the same thing as a doctor going in and performing surgery to repair or remove something faulty in a patient’s body, having the patient undergo a recovery period and then returning home — fully healed. Since addiction is a chronic illness that is subject to relapse, it probably makes more sense to take a long-term approach to treating it as well.

Why Choose
Long-term Rehab Treatment
Long-term Rehab Treatment
Research has shown that the longer a person spends in a rehab center, the better their chances are of being able to achieve long-term sobriety. Ideally, a client would be able to spend at least 90 days getting addiction treatment.

Long-term Treatment Gets to the Root of Addiction
Spending more time in recovery means that a person has the opportunity to understand the underlying cause of their addiction. When a client arrives at a rehab center, detoxification(detox) is often the first step that is required. After the client has completed detox, they need some time to adjust to the daily routine of the residential facility. After that point, the treatment process begins.
Detox and adjusting to the treatment center can take a couple of weeks on their own. If a client is only signing up for a 30-day program, they are not leaving much time to learn skills which are going to help them make lasting changes in their lifestyle or help them resist the urge to start using again when they have to cope with life stressors.

Clients Can Get Well with Distractions
Since clients remain in treatment for an extended time without the distractions of their regular lives, they can focus all of their attention on getting help for their addiction.
Long-term Treatment Programs Model Healthy Lifestyle Habits
Many people who are living in a pattern of substance abuse are not taking good care of themselves in other ways. They don’t eat properly, get enough sleep or exercise on a regular basis.
Part of a long-term facility program involves modeling a healthy lifestyle through nutritious meals, a regular routine for getting up in the morning and going to bed, and participating in enjoyable leisure activities. Clients start to notice they feel better physically after making these changes to their routine, and it can help them to continue the work of understanding why they started using chemicals.
